C2 Pilates is the premier Pilates studio in greater Boston, offering classes in Pilates, yoga, and strength training. An independent studio within the Dedham Health and Athletic Club, C2 Pilates is dedicated to bringing the strengths and benefits of Pilates exercises to women, men and kids of every age group. Forget the celebrities, the infomercials and your preconceived notions. The promise of Pilates could not be simpler--think of a set of exercises that centers on the core postural muscles. Envision a routine that helps the body maintain proper balance and build power. C2 Pilates features STOTT Pilates®, a style of Pilates that is bio-mechanically based and focuses on form, function, and posture. The STOTT Pilates® method has exercises designed to restore the natural curves of the spine and rebalance the muscles around the joints. The method focuses on the following five basic principles:
• Breathing
• Pelvic placement
• Ribcage placement
• Scapular (shoulder blade) movement
• Head and cervical spine placement
Pilates Studio offers classes with something of interest for everyone: Pilates classes for women focusing on toning and flexibility, including prenatal and postnatal conditioning; Pilates for men concentrates on stability and stamina building, for developing Powerhouse core strength; and Pilates for kids which focuses on good posture, strength and fun—an investment in fitness and wellbeing for a lifetime of good health.
Classes are offered as private sessions, duet/buddy sessions, and in small groups of four to five participants:

C2 Pilates Studio is owned and operated by Carolyn “CC” Martin, a certified Pilates master instructor and leading expert in Pilates. CC’s training philosophy focuses primarily on precision, technique and quality of movement, so clients can achieve their individual goals regardless of age or fitness level.
CC is a veritable moving force in the fitness industry. After several decades of success in various roles, CC launched C2 Pilates in 1999. Under her guidance, C2 would enjoy rapid growth over the next eight years and by late 2007, expand into their third greater Boston studio.
In addition to teaching at the studios, CC trains future instructors in STOTT Pilates® at her
C2 Pilates Training Centers of Connecticut, Southern New England’s premier STOTT Pilates® training center. As a STOTT Pilates® instructor, CC teaches, trains, and certifies students looking for a career in fitness. CC is also an ambassador of
lululemon athletica, a line of yoga-inspired athletic apparel.
